Speaking exclusively with  the media , Jammal who also added that every actor is creatively unique in their craft, said: “I don’t agree with the word make-believe. “I think every artiste is unique in their own way and that is what makes each one of us different. What makes me stand out? COVID-19: Lagos to re-open schools if… — Education commissioner

….To employ 2,000 primary school teachers STRONG indications emerged, yesterday, that officials of the Federal and Lagos State governments are working out guidelines for re-opening of schools, which closure was precipitated by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. This came as the Lagos State Government hinted that there are plans to employ no fewer than 2,000 more teachers in its public primary schools. Similarly, the state government, through the Office of Education Quality Assurance, has designed an initiative, tagged: ‘Read-Aloud, Lagos’, to create and stimulate the interest of school children in reading books. The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo disclosed this during an online show, Covinspiration show, moderated by a United Nations Youth Ambassador, Dayo Isreal, while giving scorecard of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration within the 360 days. How teenage girl faked own death to avoid financial pressure from mother

A teenage girl, Margaret Ikumu, 19, of Oni community in Oju Local Government Area of Benue, has faked her own death on social media to avoid financial pressure from her mother. A statement signed by DSP Bala Elkana, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, made this known on Sunday. Elkana said that Ikumu, through her Facebook account, reported to have died a few days ago and was secretly buried by her two friends, Marvelous Mary and Nneka Buddy, at Ajah area. “The family of the fake deceased further stated that they were able to establish contact with the said friends who confirmed to them that their daughter is dead. “To make them believe that the girl is dead, they sent WhatsApp chats to a member of the girl’s family with picture of a casket showing that the girl is buried. “The family also got in touch with a man on phone who claimed to be her boyfriend. Emirate Empire artist and one of the hottest rappers currently in Nigeria, Erigga, whose real name is Erhiga Agarivbie, opines that Nigerians would not have made use of the mandated face mask, if not for the harassment of the men of the Nigerian police. He tweeted this on his official Twitter handle. “If no be police wahala, wetin concern 99% of Nigerians with face mask? You think say them they fear coronavirus?” Erigga said. Amotekun nabs two suspects for stealing female underwear in Osun

Men of Amotekun Corps in Osun State have arrested two suspects, Friday and Toyib for allegedly stealing female underwear for ritual purposes. The suspects were said to have been nabbed by Amotekun corps after they had bugled a house at Kajola Ajaba in Ila Local Government Area of the state. They had already succeeded in stealing pants belonging to five different women before the duo was nabbed. However, the suspects refused to confess the purpose for which the stolen pants were meant or the person who sent them. Apart from the pants, a small ax was also recovered from the burglar. Toyib, who claimed to be a welder said Friday is an apprentice under him but denied being party to the illegal act. As at the time of filing this report, the Corps Director-General, Amitolu Shittu said the suspects had been handed over to the police in the area. A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in the Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State, Miss Ifeanyiwa Momah, said she undertook a project of refurbishing some toilets in the NYSC secretariat in the area in order to leave a lasting legacy. Momah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday that her donation, to give the toilets a better look, was a thing of joy for her, and for others to emulate. ‘Ginjah Your Swaggah’ crooner, Terry G, whose real name is Gabriel Oche, is definitely not happy with some of his colleagues who parade themselves as gangsters, telling them gangster life is not for everybody. Terry G, who is from Benue State, made this rare post on his Instagram page. In the post, he went hard and blunt. “Everybody is hard until it is that time to be that “gansta”. If you are not from the street, don’t act like you are hard or a gangsta…this (gangster) life is not for everybody, don’t let the gram fool you; focus on yourself, family, loved ones and stay out of the way” Terry G cautioned. Ondo court stops 16-year-old schoolgirl’s marriage to cleric as ninth wife

AN Ondo state   family Court in Akure has quashed a forced marriage of a 16 year old Secondary School girl to  an Islamic Cleric with eight wives, Alhaji Yusuf Lateef. Lateef, who is an Ore based cleric was to make the girl who was 15 last year as his ninth wife. The three man panel led by Justice Aderemi Adegoroye ordered the return of the girl to her family for proper care and education and warned Lateef to stay away from her. Alhaji Lateef had approached the girl’s parents and sought her hand in marriage in 2019. The girls parents reportedly accepted the proposal of the Islamic cleric despite protest from the girl. She thereafter fled their Ore home on the day fixed for the marriage with support from her brother to Akure, the state capital. The victim was said to have been advised by symphatisers to lodge a complaint with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. Singer, Seyi Shay, caused a buzz on social media, particularly Instagram, during the week when a half nude photo was uploaded on her Instagram page. Some days ago, it was reported on some blogs that Lanre Gentry, the estranged husband of actress and businesswoman, Mercy Aigbe, had married another woman simply identified as @fab_mrsgentry after he shared her picture on social media. However, in an interview with Gentry he  clarified that the woman in question was his brother’s wife and not his new lover as many had assumed. He said, “Who said that I have a new wife? FG asks churches, mosques, others to submit guidelines for reopening

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire,  on Thursday, said COVID-19 patients, who spent a long period at isolation centres were at the risk of depression. Ehanire, who stated this in Abuja at the press conference of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, said government planned to deploy psychologists in isolation centres to take care of such patients. At the press conference, the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu,  said the task force was reluctant to adopt home treatment it once proposed because of conditions under which Nigerians live. He also asked professional groups and faith-based organisations, including churches and mosques, to submit guidelines for reopening to the NCDC to review and advise.
